The innovative project is aimed at solving the urgent problem of meeting the conditions for ensuring radiation safety in emergency and crisis situations: military conflicts, natural disasters, and prolonged retention.
Innovative technological high-strength sytals with high self-healing ability for radioactive waste immobilization have been developed, which allow solving the problem of reliable long-term involvement of radioactive waste in high-strength solid-state matrices resistant to environmental factors in accordance with the IAEA requirements, man-made factors and the effects of armed aggression.
The developed materials are characterized by relatively low cost and high manufacturability and can be produced using traditional glassmaking technology at domestic facilities.
