PROJECT 10

City: Odesa

Project manager: Leonid Burdika

Technology Readiness Level : 8

Our mission: To end world hunger

Our vision: In 20 years, we will end world hunger with the help of our technology.

CHALLENGE/OPPORTUNITY Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of droughts, floods and extreme weather events, causing unpredictable growing conditions and crop failures for farmers around the world. Farmers all over the world, especially progressive and solvent farmers who want to increase yields by 15-65% with the latest technology and reduce pesticide use
.
SOLUTION/PRODUCT Unlike large agrochemical corporations such as Monsanto-Bayer and Syngenta, which rely on fertilizers and pesticides, Sprout uses only microwave energy to strengthen seeds without chemicals. This is perfectly aligned with the sustainability goals of zero hunger and reducing environmental impact. The sprout is easy to use - the seeds are simply treated with our mobile units before sowing

  1. Has this methodology been trialled on a wide range of seeds and how does it work when soil nutrients are depleted due to cultivation overload i.e. ever greater and greater harvests? The assumption is that population growth is unlimited and no matter what the earths population is there will always be enough to feed everyone using parostok. I can see the potential in areas where soil is poor in nutrients, but what about in areas where rain is not consistent and low or sometimes drought conditions, how does Parastok work in less than favourable weather conditions? Is Parastok intended to be an export items for say African locations?
